Star Specialist Hospital was established in 1993 as a much-needed private hospital to provide quality health care at an affordable price for the community within and around Malindi town.
Over the years we have come to be the preferred health care service provider for the local community, tourists, hotels, local and foreign corporates and insurance companies in Kilifi County and the greater North Coast region. DR. N.M. NUREIN M.D MS(Ortho)
ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON
Dr. Nurein Jr is the resident Orthopedic Surgeon, General Manager/ CEO of Star Specialist Hospital. His journey to being a medical practitioner began when he was still a young boy, looking up to his father as his mentor and teacher.
He attended primary school at Town primary located in Malindi town, after which he briefly joined Sheikh Khalifa School before proceeding to complete his education in the UK.
He did his Undergraduate Degree at Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy in Russia, after which he did his pre-internship at KNH (Kenyatta National Hospital) and did internship at Kakamega PGH.
He then went into private practice before moving to Ukraine for his postgraduate in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery, which he is currently practicing at Star Specialist Hospital.
"I pride myself on the skills I have in electrical and mechanical engineering, which immensely motivated my decision to venture into Orthopedic Surgery. I am a hands-on person who believes in DIY (Do It Yourself) and I never give up hope until I find a solution. People joke a lot at the Hospital, saying that I stay in late at the Hospital and I can be found fixing ward equipment at 2am in the morning.
I am passionate in handling Trauma, Arthroplasty and Arthroscopy patients and I look forward to meeting and taking care of you.

DR. MOHIDIN NUREIN M.D MS(Surgery)
GENERAL SURGEON
A graduate of Nizhny Novgorod State Medical Academy in Russia, Dr. Mohidin Nurein started working as a General Practitioner for 5 years and was the Medical Superintendent of Lamu District (Now Lamu County) for that period.
He then proceeded to do a Postgraduate Course in General Surgery and came back to serve his Community as a General Surgeon. He worked at Malindi General Hospital for 3 Years, after which he decided to fully focus his skills and time to treating patients and Managing Administrative matters at Star Specialist Hospital.
"Surgery has been my passion since I was a little boy. I used to get into the Operating Theatre and watch my father Dr. Nurein Snr perform operations, this made me realize from a young age that I had to be a Surgeon. After years of practice in General Surgery I realized my niche in Laparoscopy (Minimal Invasive Surgery) which I am currently pursuing.
Besides medicine, I am a farmer and an agri-economist with an immense interest in fresh fruits and vegetable. My farm currently supplies farm produce to Star Specialist Hospital and more than 10 Institutions within Kilifi County with an Intention of reaching the whole North Coast.

MRS. S.M. NUREIN
MICROBIOLOGIST
Mrs. S.M. Nurein is an experienced microbiologist with more than 30 years of experience. She is also passionate about Housekeeping, Hospitality and Social welfare. Having worked at Public Health England for over 10 years, she aims to promote diversity and has gained invaluable knowledge about management. She heads the Laboratory and Hospitality departments at the Hospital and uses her microbiology background to maintain hygiene standards.
Mrs. S.M. Nurein is an Iron Pillar of the Hospital since its opening in 1993. Driven by excellence, she is meticulous and ensures perfection in every project she initiates. She believes growth is gradual and only achieved by commitment, consistency and hard work.
Her goal is for Star Specialist Hospital to be the medical facility of choice for everyone within and around the North Coast.

PERIODONTIST & IMPLANT SURGEON
A graduate of University of Nairobi and a member of the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology he considers himself blessed to be able to work in a profession that he has true passion for.
"Modern dentistry is so rewarding in the way it allows us to restore a patient's health and smile. We only use modern materials and techniques that allow health, function and beauty to be restored fast and successfully.
I am strongly passionate about implant and prosthetic dentistry, but committed to improve my knowledge in all aspects of dentistry. This enables me to provide my patients with the most current treatment choices. I am constantly upgrading my skills by attending hands-on courses internationally. I believe in education not only for myself and my team, but for my patients as well, so they can make the most informed decision about their care.

Mr. Steve Adera: Hospital Administrator & Chief Clinician
Accomplished Manager, Administrator and Clinician with 4 Years experience on the job with a niche on Pediatric Medicine.
Having studied at the Mombasa KMTC and practicing in various Medical Institutions within the Coastal region, Steve understands the common problems that ail people in the Coastal region, this has put him in an advantaged position to treat his patients in the best way possible.
When Steve isn't attending to patients he enjoys playing Basketball and table tennis, though he plays casually he has participated in many tournaments and accumulated trophies and medals to show his prowess.
Steve enjoys being around and attending to children. He intends to specialize in Pediatric Medicine and help decrease Child mortality rate in the Coastal region and beyond.
Dr. Sam Mwachibua: Medical Officer
MWACHIBUA SAM, M.D is a graduate of Mount Kenya University medical school, went to Malindi sub county hospital for his internship programme. Then worked in the same hospital as a resident medical officer in obstetrics and gynecology department before given opportunity to work at star specialist hospital. At star specialist hospital he is in charge of the clinical department that involve outpatient, inpatient, imaging, laboratory and theatre services. He is also the chairman 0f emergency preparedness/safety and health committee.
He is responsible and dedicated medical practitioner with strong clinical abilities. Proactive and well organized with passionate commitment to top notch care. Adept in patient evaluation, diagnostic and treatment planning to assist patients with controlling symptoms, improving health and making health choices.
In future he sees himself as an obstetrician and gynecologist with a subspecialty in oncology.
In his spare time DR. SAM MWACHIBUA, enjoys travelling, cooking and spending time outdoors. He is very excited to be part of star specialist hospital and is proud to work such a fantastic team of practitioners.
